As you will be aware the UK left the European Union on the 31st January 2020 and the transition period after Brexit comes to an end.
The UK government are discussing and negotiating agreements with the EU to complete a trade deal by the 31st December 2020.
It is still unclear of the challenges that Businesses in the UK will face after leaving Europe but here at JRC we continue to plan and prepare. We are confident that Brexit will not affect our ability to supply our customers.
As this is still ongoing, we will continue to review the latest events whilst taking steps to ensure our business is prepared for a ‘no deal’ outcome:
Most of the products that JRC supply are manufactured in Europe.
Each of our suppliers has their own Brexit strategy in place and we have been working closely with them to increase the volume of stock that we hold in the UK, to ensure that we minimise delays in supplying our customers, should there be delays at the borders.
We continue to work very closely with our supply partners to ensure we reduce any disruption to our customers.
JRC has experience of international trade and we are confident that our expertise within the company is more than sufficient to meet the new demands faced with importing roofing slates.
We are currently working on plans to have an inhouse customs declarations system in place by 31st December 2020.
All of our products are regulated by European and British standards. We will continue to ensure that our pallets of slate comply with the CE marking regulations. We will monitor for any changes to the regulations following the Brexit negotiations.
Until the outcome of Brexit is known it is difficult to comment on the potential impact of any increase to the cost of materials. It is possible additional costs will be incurred if import taxes and duties are affected.
We will continue to monitor the developments of the Brexit negotiations whilst working with our supply chain partners, to ensure a smooth transition.
Kind regards
